I also realize that only those who bring happiness for others can be truly happy. I once went to a barren mountain village with my ctes. We taught the kids there who could not afford school. While showing them how broad and how civilized the outer world is, I was deeply touched by their eagerness to learn, their honesty and their purity. I couldn't control my tears on the day when we left. The precious experience with the poor kids made me aware of the responsibility on the shoulders of us, future teachers. 5 Suddenly I wanted to write about that, about the warmth and good feeling of it, but I wanted to put it down simply for my own joy, not for Mr. Fleagle. I he a good friend. He is a handsome boy and his eyes shine with wisdom. I he known him since Senior One. We are both interested in English. Once both of us entered for an English contest. How eagerly I expected to get a prize! On hearing that I had failed in the contest, I could hardly hold back my tears. "What a pity!" I murmured to myself over and over again. I felt that the world had become cold and ryone seemed to be laughing at me.I love English and he gone all out to study it since my first day in the junior middle school. I he n dreamed of entering a foreign language institute. So I felt very sad. Just at this time, I received a short letter in English, saying, "Failure is the mother of success. Cheer up! Don't lose confidence. Keep on your study and you will succeed!" I knew it was from the good friend of mine. These words encouraged me greatly. I forgot all my sadness. From then on, I studied English n harder. In the next English contest, I got the first prize. Of course, he was delighted with my success. I am very lucky to he such a good friend. I'm thankful to him for his .Hello,rybody.What's your attitude towards your father?Do you always he a good attitude towards him?My answer is no.
To l you the truth,I had a bad attitude towards my father when I was young. He was always strict with me,He didn't allow me to buy rything I liked but to buy what I needed instead. He didn't allow me to play comr s much but an hour during weekends. He didn't allow me to go to school in his car.He asked me to go by bus instead. So at that time I thought he was not good for me and didn't love me.We had quarrels very often. We didn't get on well.I didn't repect him, didn't talk with him and n hated him.
But when I entered junior school,I began to know what my father had done was good for me.I felt sorry for him.I should not treated him in such a poor way. Then my attitude towards him changed.I began to speak to him, ling him rything happening in school.I cared for him so much.I ed to do the housework at home.I prepared tea for him when he returned home from work.My father felt surprised and asked,“boy, what do you do that for?”“Nothing”I replied,“Dad,I just do what I should as a son.”From then on,we were on good terms.

祝你快乐~In my 18 years of life, there he been many things. University days are the best part of them. I can nr forget the days when I stepped into my university. I was impressed by its garden-like campus, its enthusiastic students and especially its learning atmosphere. I at once fell in love with it.
After the arduous military training, I get absoluy absorbed in my studies. The classes given by the teachers are excellent. They provide us with rmation not only from our textbooks but from many other sources as well. They easily arouse my insatiable desire to take in as much as I can.
Frankly speaking, at first I had some difficulty following the teachers. Howr, through my own efforts and thanks to my teachers' guidance, I made remarkable progress. Now I've benefited a lot from lectures and many other academic reports.
Learning is a long process; I'll keep exploring in the treasure house of knowledge to enrich myself. This summer I got out of the ivory tower and entered the real world. A publishing house offered me a part-time job in compilation and revision.
At the beginning I was belittled by my colleagues. But they were really surprised when I translated sn English articles over 5,000 words on only one day. Gradually, they began to look at me with respectful eyes. In their opinion I turned out to be a useful and trustworthy colleague.
Besides study and social pract, there are entertainments as well. I do body building ry day, hoping to keep healthy and energetic. We also write a play and put it on in our spare time.
Finally, I do hope rybody can try their best to become a worthy citizen of the country. I do hope rybody can become the backbone of our nation and make great contributions to society!

Writing for Myself
Russell Baker
1 The idea of becoming a writer had come to me off and on since my childhood in Belleville, but it wasn't until my third year in high school that the sibility took hold. Until then I've been bored by rything associated with English courses. I found English grammar dull and difficult. I hated the assignments to turn out long, lifeless paragraphs that were agony for teachers to read and for me to write.
When we are writing we are often told to keep our readers in mind, to shape what we say to fit their tastes and interests. But there is one reader in particular who should not be forgotten. Can you guess who? Russell Baker surprised himself and ryone else when he discovered the answer.
3 I prepared for an unfruitful year with Mr. Fleagle and for a long time was not disappointed. Late in the year we tackled the rmal essay. Mr. Fleagle distributed a homework sheet offering us a cho of topics. None was quite so -minded as "What I Did on My Summer Vacation," but most seemed to be almost as dull. I took the list home and did nothing until the night before the essay was due. Lying on the sofa, I finally faced up to the unwelcome task, took the list out of my notebook, and scanned it. The topic on which my eye stopped was "The Art of Eating Spaghetti."
4 This title produced an extraordinary sequence of mental images. Vivid memories came flooding back of a night in Belleville when all of us were seated around the supper table — Uncle Allen, my mother, Uncle Charlie, Doris, Uncle Hal — and Aunt Pat served spaghetti for supper. Spaghetti was still a little known foreign dish in those days. Neither Doris nor I had r eaten spaghetti, and none of the s had enough experience to be good at it. All the good humor of Uncle Allen's house reawoke in my mind as I recalled the laughing arguments we had that night about the socially respectable mod for moving spaghetti from plate to mouth.
6 When I finished it the night was half gone and there was no time left to come a proper, respectable essay for Mr. Fleagle. There was no cho next morning but to turn in my tale of the Belleville supper. Two days passed before Mr. Fleagle returned the graded s, and he returned ryone's but mine. I was preparing myself for a command to report to Mr. Fleagle immediay after school for discipline when I saw him lift my from his desk and knock for the class's attention.
7 "Now, boys," he said. "I want to read you an essay. This is titled, 'The Art of Eating Spaghetti.'"
9 I did my best to oid showing pleasure, but what I was feeling was pure delight at this demonstration that my words had the power to make people laugh. In the elnth grade, at the elnth hour as it were, I had discovered a calling. It was the happiest moment of my entire school career. When Mr. Fleagle finished he put the final seal on my happiness by saying, "Now that, boys, is an essay, don't you see. It's — don't you see — it's of the very essence of the essay, don't you see. Congratulations, Mr. Baker."

2 When our class was assigned to Mr. Fleagle for third-year English I anticipated another cheerless year in that most tedious of subjects. Mr. Fleagle had a reputation among students for dullness and ility to inspire. He was said to be very formal, rigid and hopelessly out of date. To me he looked to be sixty or snty and excessively prim. He wore primly sre eyeglasses, his wy hair was primly cut and primly combed. He wore prim suits with neckties set primly against the collar buttons of his white shirts. He had a primly pointed jaw, a primly straight nose, and a prim manner of speaking that was so correct, so gentlemanly, that he seemed a comic antique.
